This is the second volume in a ground-breaking series of studies on the social history of the Welsh language. It is the first study of its kind to present a comprehensive, clear and accessible compendium of statistical material relating to the Welsh language in the long nineteenth century. Divided into five sections, each of which contains an introduction, the statistical findings are presented in tabular form, together with explanatory maps.
